How do I access the library databases off-campus?

Answer

You can access the library's databases on and off-campus in many ways. Here are two easy ways:

From the Library Website

  • Click on the Databases link in the middle of the library homepage.
  • This will direct you to the A-Z Databases page, which is a list of all of the library's databases organized in alphabetical order.
    • The directory has limiters you can use to help you limit to databases by subject, type of source, or brand name. You can also run a search for a specific database by name.
    • Heavily-used databases are listed as Popular databases on the right side of the list.
    • Each database contains a description to help you decide if it's a good fit for your need.
  • Click on the name of the database you want to search in.
  • When you click on the name of database to search, you will be prompted to enter your MC Portal username and password.
  • After you log in, you can start searching.

From the MC Portal

  • From the Merced College website, click on the MC Portal link located at the top right of the website.
  • Enter in your username and password when prompted.
  • Once you are logged into the MC Portal,  click on the "Library" tab located at the the top of the page.
  • This will take you to the Library Portal page. Click on the "Find Databases" link located in the middle of the page.
  • This will direct you to the A-Z Databases page, which is a list of all of the library's databases organized in alphabetical order.
