How do I find out if my textbook is on Course Reserve?

Answer

The library has many course textbooks on reserve available through the Course Reserves program. Materials on Course Reserves, such as textbooks, can be checked out at the Service Desk on the 1st floor of the Downey Center in Merced and at the Service Desk at the Los Baños Campus Library with your Merced College ID for in-library use for up to two hours at a time

Reserves are made possible via donations and student equity funding that varies semester to semester. The program is meant to offer temporary assistance while you wait for your textbooks to arrive.

How do you know if the library has your textbook?

  • Verify the title and edition of your textbook in your course syllabus / Canvas / College Bookstore listing.
  • You will need to search for the book in OneSearch, the library's discovery tool.
    • A quick way to search is to enter the title of the book and click on the magnifying glass.
  • If the library has the book, note the call number (not ISBN) and campus library location.
    • The call number tells library Circulation staff where items are physically located in the library.
    • You will need the call number to ask for the textbook at the Circulation Desk with your Merced College ID.
    • In OneSearch, the call number is available in parentheses.
